He asks them and others whether they're born again. They talk about sin, and knowing better yet still doing wrong. James talks at one point and says he gets caught up in his thoughts, and doesn't think he does the silent prayer correctly, as he cannot focus. They also touch on the Bible and judgment on oneself and others.
